As a leader on the Board of Directors, what is your personal mission for success?

My mission in this role is to increase our brand presence and member interactions across all platforms, but particularly on our website. We have such an amazing team of talented and experienced individuals who I believe will bring our chapter to greater heights moving forward.

What attracted you to your current job?

Finance/Investment Banking was not an industry I ever thought I could thrive in. In fact, I found it intimidating. However, once I was settled into my role, I discovered that it was not as intimidating as I believed it to be. And like all industries, there were various segments that I could explore that didn’t necessarily lead to a career as a professional trader or advisor. Working in operations has sharpened my analytical skills and opened my eyes to the complexities of back-end processing. In marketing, we tend to focus on the front-end and client impact. Now, I have the ability to analyze the impact on both ends.

Was Marketing your first career choice?

Yes, I graduated with a B.S. in Marketing Management and planned to make a career out of it. Although my primary role does not relate to the field, I’ve found creative outlets (like joining the AMA and establishing my own cupcake company) that allow me to explore the field.

Why did you join the AMA?

I wanted to join an organization that gave me an opportunity to interact with like-minded creatives and to explore the vast segments of marketing. I’m so glad that I did. Since signing up as a volunteer, I’ve been able to exchange ideas, gain support and mentorship from established marketing professionals. It’s truly been a blast!

What was the most unusual experience in your career?

I can’t say that I’ve had any unusual experiences but there were difficult moments in the beginning. Making the transition from college to the professional world was a bit overwhelming, but thankfully, I had a great support system of mentors who guided me along the way.

What’s at the top of your “must-see” list?

Paris. It’s been my dream since I was a little girl to see the Eiffel Tower and to visit the Louvre museum. Now, it’s just a matter of deciding when.

Favorite movie – and why?

The Rush Hour Trilogy with Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan. They never fail to make me laugh even after all this time and watching them several times.

What makes you laugh?

My little sister. She is a fun, free-spirited and silly person to be around. There is never a dull moment with her and she always finds a way to make me laugh or smile.

If you could have dinner with a famous person from history, who would it be and why?

Toussaint L’Ouverture, the leader of the Haitian Revolution. Although I was born in the U.S., my family immigrated from Haiti. He is a very important historical figure in my culture. I would love to know how he found the courage to lead a revolution where the probability of success was incredibly low and did he realize just how impactful his movement would become.
