As a leader on the Board of Directors, what is your personal mission for success?

As AVP Programming I plan to assist in the creation of innovative, engaging events that serve as a place for both young and seasoned marketers to expand their network and skillset.

What attracted you to your current job?

Growing up I thought I wanted to be a teacher, but found that I was much more skilled in and passionate about all things marketing. I liked the fact that I could work within a school setting like I had always wanted, but use my skills to promote the great work that the educators and students are doing. There is never a dull moment as each day brings on new challenges and projects.

Was Marketing your first career choice?

No. Growing up I had always said that I wanted to be a teacher and when I was first applying for colleges I was looking into teaching or guidance counselor programs. I spent one year at UConn as a Human Development and Family Studies major, but once I was in the program I found that I wasn’t as passionate about the curriculum or future employment opportunities that went with that degree as I had thought. I ended up transferring to Monmouth University, enrolled in their undergraduate Communication, Journalism/PR program and really got involved on campus in any and every marketing/pr role that I could. It was during my time at Monmouth where I realized my passion for writing, event planning, promotions, and digital marketing.

Why did you join the AMA?

Aside from the opportunity to network and learn from industry pros, I was excited to have the opportunity to grow and enhance my own skillset and work in an area of marketing that I have not been able to in my professional experience so far.

What was the most unusual experience in your career?

Taking a new position at an organization in which I solely replaced a previous marketing team of three, and had to learn about the role and the company with little to no guidance and minimal communication from a remote location.

What’s at the top of your “must-see” list?

It is a tie between Italy and Greece. I have seen so many breathtaking pictures via social media from friends and family that have had the opportunity to visit each location, and it has always been a dream of mine to see a Santorini sunset, the Amalfi Coast or Cinque Terre with my own eyes.

Favorite movie – and why?

Miracle – the movie about the 1980 USA Olympic Hockey team. I am a big hockey fan (Go Rangers!), and I tend to love sports films and movies based on true stories in general.

What makes you laugh?

My family and friends. I am grateful to have loved ones that are witty and sarcastic with such great senses of humor that can turn almost any situation into a happy and positive one.

If you could have dinner with a famous person from history, who would it be and why?

Too many great people in mind to pick just one!
