What motivated your involvement with the AMA-New Jersey chapter, and why is this organization significant to you?

I joined AMA-New Jersey not long after moving to the state, at the tail end of the pandemic and still working remotely for various agencies.  At the time I was feeling a bit unmoored from the marketing community – sure I worked in an agency and breathed the work day in and day out, but rarely did I have the opportunity to “talk shop” with professionals outside of my company.  It was a perspective I was craving, to think about our profession beyond a scope and deliverables, how it could delight and infuriate all in the same day and how we can help evolve the industry – and ourselves – as new technologies come to light. To me AMA means learning from people who are creative and smart and strategic and fun.

What advice would you offer to new professionals in your industry?

People will tell you AI is completely changing the marketing game, and in an executional way it is.  Teams can be smaller, more efficient, and have analytical and strategic answers almost instantly.  But at its heart it’s still about human behavior, figuring out what makes people tick and how to provide the info and products they need to make their lives (or at least their day) better. Learn the technology, think around corners and innovate, learn from everyone around you including those at your same level and never begin to think you are above customer.
