Vice President, Communications

About the role:

Reports to: President

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with the AVP, Communications to provide strategic direction for all external AMA NJ communications
  • Recruits, manages, and supports the team’s Graphic Designer, Web Content Creator, Videographer, Photographer, Social Media Specialists, Content Specialists, and Email Marketing Specialists to create a unified AMA NJ voice representative of the AMA NJ brand
  • Provides guidance and support to committee team members to fulfill committee goals and objectives
  • Uses AMA Brand Strategy Guide to inform the design and creation of content on all AMA NJ platforms
  • Develops an internal content calendar for social media campaigns, email communications, and blog content
  • Oversees workflows for social media and digital campaigns (email, newsletters, blog content, web content)
  • Ensures committee members are on track with upcoming campaigns and resource requirements
  • Utilize analytics and data to improve effectiveness and efficiency of communications
  • Build, write and distribute chapter’s Newsletter, working with board to cultivate content
  • Assists in the execution of communications-related tasks
  • Collaborates with VP, Communications, and VP, Programming to ensure event-related communications strategy is developed and executed in a timely fashion
  • Collaborates with VP, Membership to develop member-related communications to ensure member engagement and updates
  • Collaborates with VP, Business Intelligence to identify the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and adjust strategy where necessary

Experience requirements:

  • Degree in marketing, advertising, communications or related professional experience
  • Experience with communications technology including email platforms, website CMS and social media
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally, coordinating across a large, dynamic organization with multiple board members and committees
  • Experience mentoring early career professionals a plus!

Time commitment and reporting requirements:

  • Serves approximately 5-7 hours per week, depending on the time of year
  • Attends a minimum of 3 chapter events and programs (free or discounted price)
  • Attends monthly board meetings and reporting out on progress (AVP of committee can attend if VP is unavailable)
  • Lead, attend, and organize weekly or biweekly committee calls/meetings and provide committee reports (day/time determined by VP and AVP)
